Practice and qualifying sessions are split with the relevant classes from the solo classes such as Superbike, Superstock, Supersport and Supertwins (aka Lightweight) as well as the sidecars. These sessions allow the riders to get familiar with their machines and the course conditions which will be especially useful when the riders and teams return after being away for so long. The riders are started in a 2 x 2 format at 10 second intervals often from the end of pit lane or directly from parc fermé.
Meanwhile, the races see competitors set-off individually at 10 second intervals from the start/finish line on the Glencrutchery Road.

Once we’re back to the TT, the new schedule will include a warm-up lap ahead of each race allowing competitors to get familiar with their machines and the conditions that’ll great them in the race. After all, weather plays an almighty part at the Isle of Man TT and when riders are hurtling down Bray Hill at maximum speed just seconds after being waved away, this additional lap seems like a sensible move.
